Role Overview

The Planning Compliance Officer position, part of the Compliance Services Team, plays a key role in ensuring effective enforcement and monitoring concerning planning regulations and local laws. The role demands excellent interpersonal skills to engage collaboratively with the public and colleagues, ensuring cooperation and support in compliance activities.

Core Responsibilities

• Carry out investigations and surveillance of complaints and potential breaches of the Cardinia Planning Scheme, Planning and Environment Act 1987, and Planning Permit conditions, implementing corrective measures when necessary.
• Issue infringement notices, contravention notices, and other relevant legal notifications in accordance with the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
• Collect, prepare, and maintain adequate and suitable evidence to underpin all enforcement actions undertaken.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Proven experience in planning enforcement roles is highly preferred.
• In-depth understanding of statutory planning procedures, related laws, policies, and the local planning scheme.
• Awareness and application of health and safety principles regarding risk management.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Strong abilities in both written and verbal communication.
• Possession of a valid Victorian driver's license.
