About the Organisation
The employer is a well-established and expanding business in the utilities space, providing essential services to communities across Australia and New Zealand.
With ongoing growth, the team is now looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join on a permanent basis.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of accurate, timely end-to-end payroll processing for a large workforce. You will partner with internal teams and external vendors to make sure payroll requirements are completed correctly and employees are paid on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Run complete payroll processing for both weekly and fortnightly pay cycles
- Calculate and process superannuation, PAYG withholding tax, and payroll-related deductions correctly
- Handle leave entitlements and calculations, including annual, personal, parental, and long service leave
- Reply to payroll questions from employees and stakeholders in a clear, professional, and prompt way
- Keep payroll records accurate and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies
- Support payroll reporting, reconciliations, and month-end activities
About You
The ideal candidate will bring at least 2 years of experience in a high-volume, end-to-end payroll role. You should have a solid grasp of payroll legislation, tax obligations, and superannuation rules, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines without sacrificing accuracy. Independence, prioritisation, strong communication, stakeholder engagement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are also important for success in this role.
