ملازمت کی تفصیل
Company Overview
Acon Industries delivers asphalt and chip seal surfacing solutions for commercial builders, businesses, and homeowners across the Bay of Plenty and Waikato. The company is focused on producing durable, high-quality surfaces for both new work and ongoing maintenance, with an emphasis on practical advice, responsive communication, and dependable service. Project estimates can be provided quickly by phone, and on-site assessments are available when a more detailed review is needed.
Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position in Tauranga is responsible for leading day-to-day paving activity and making sure each job is completed safely, on schedule, and to the required standard. The role involves coordinating labour, machinery, and materials for asphalt and chip seal projects, checking progress, and ensuring the finished surface meets the correct levels and quality expectations.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Paving Supervisor will review work plans, organise schedules, allocate tasks, and guide crew members directly on site. The role also includes monitoring safety requirements, carrying out site checks, addressing issues as they arise, and keeping project managers, customers, and subcontractors informed about progress, timelines, and site limitations. In addition, the position supports cost awareness, maintains simple records of completed work, and looks for ways to improve paving processes and site workflows.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should bring hands-on experience supervising paving or civil construction teams, along with the ability to manage daily site operations and resources effectively. A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and instructions for asphalt and chip seal surfacing is important, as is practical knowledge of paving methods, compaction standards, equipment oversight, and surface quality requirements.
Safety, Communication, and Practical Skills
The ideal candidate will place a strong focus on health and safety, including safe work methods, toolbox talks, and compliance with applicable rules and standards. Good leadership, clear communication, and the ability to work well with a range of people are essential. Organisational ability, problem-solving, basic numeracy, and record-keeping skills are also needed to handle scheduling, track quantities, and support reporting.
Additional Requirements
A valid driver’s licence is required, and the role involves working outdoors in changing weather conditions and on active construction sites. Experience in road construction, surfacing, or similar work in New Zealand would be a strong advantage. A trade or construction qualification, or equivalent practical experience, is helpful but not compulsory.
