Overview
Join Asda Opticians in Eastleigh as a full-time Optometrist dedicated to prioritizing eye health and delivering exceptional patient care. This permanent position operates on a daytime shift pattern, averaging 40 hours per week, with a competitive salary plus benefits.
Daily Responsibilities
As an Optometrist, you will conduct comprehensive eye tests, including contact lens and extended service examinations. Collaborating closely with the Dispensing Optician Manager, you will support team members through training and coaching while upholding department standards.
Extended Services and Professional Development
With NHS extended service contracts, the role involves providing diverse eye care treatments and monitoring eye conditions. Asda supports gaining additional accreditations required for these services and offers a robust CPD program with dedicated time and funding to pursue further qualifications.
Opportunities to mentor and supervise optical students are available to enhance your professional growth.
Support Structure
You will receive comprehensive assistance from in-store, regional, and head office teams to address clinical or service queries.
Work Schedule
- Week 1: Saturday 09:00-17:30; Tuesday-Friday 09:00-17:30
- Week 2: Monday-Friday 09:00-17:30
Candidate Profile
- Registered Optometrist with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Registered NHS performer in the relevant area or health board
- MECs or WECs accreditation, or willingness to obtain within 12 months (funded by Asda)
- Compliant with CPD statutory points requirements
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer experiences using clinical expertise
- Committed to developing new patient services and cultivating a positive team culture
Compliance Requirements
Applicants must provide proof of GOC registration and UK Right to Work documentation. Also required are NHS performer list evidence, two clinical references, and if applying in Wales, WECS and WGOS accreditation confirmations.
