Project Context
This role supports a psychosocial support initiative aimed at Afghan nationals living in Al-Saliyah Camp by providing psychological counseling and specialized mental health services. The project is designed to promptly address the mental health and psychosocial needs of refugees through assessments, individual counseling, referrals for advanced care, and group efforts promoting resilience and social cohesion to mitigate the stresses caused by displacement and challenging conditions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct basic tailoring skill training sessions for students with guidance from community tailors.
- Mentor community tailors, enhancing their ability to train students and impart advanced tailoring techniques.
- Oversee logistical arrangements and daily management of the Tailoring Program, ensuring all necessary materials and resources are available and maintained.
- Organize training schedules, workshops, and student skill assessments, ensuring timely completion of objectives.
- Lead capacity-building workshops focusing on new fashion trends, tailoring techniques, and entrepreneurship for community tailors.
- Promote a collaborative learning environment encouraging idea exchange among community tailors.
- Plan and execute a community fashion show highlighting the work of students and community tailors, coordinating venue, logistics, invitations, garment preparation, and show presentations.
- Monitor program progress, gather data on participation and skill gains, and provide updates to program management.
Evaluation Metrics
- Successful delivery of training sessions with active community participation demonstrating measurable skill improvements.
- Efficient coordination ensuring materials and activities align with program timelines and goals.
- Enhanced skills and knowledge sharing among community tailors through ongoing workshops.
- Effective organization and execution of events such as a fashion show, with comprehensive progress reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or vocational certificate in tailoring with at least five years of professional experience, or a university degree in tailoring, fashion design, textile studies, or a related field with a minimum of three years relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in tailoring and garment construction, covering basic and advanced techniques.
- Experience in teaching or mentoring within community environments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including event coordination.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
- Creative passion for fashion design and community development.
- Previous leadership of fashion shows or similar events considered an advantage.
Languages
Fluency in English is required, with working knowledge of Pashto and/or Dari regarded as advantageous. Language proficiency will be assessed during the selection process.

Additional Information
Consultants are covered by occupational accident and illness insurance during the consultancy period, but are responsible for non-occupational insurance. Employment offers depend on funding and require medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa compliance, and security clearance.
