Role Overview
This contract role for a Mortgage Adviser is based in Auckland, New Zealand, operating under a hybrid work model that blends office and remote work. The Adviser will evaluate clients' financial circumstances and homeownership goals, offering personalized mortgage recommendations. Daily tasks include analyzing financial documents, preparing loan applications, coordinating with lenders, and monitoring the progress of approvals through to settlement.
The Adviser will be responsible for delivering transparent and compliant guidance, simplifying complex financial jargon for clients, and keeping thorough documentation of client communications. Maintaining ongoing relationships, identifying refinancing prospects, and working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to integrate financial planning will also form part of the duties.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Expertise in mortgage advisory, including loan affordability assessments, home loan structuring, and familiarity with New Zealand mortgage products and regulations.
- Proficient in financial analysis, capable of evaluating income, expenses, credit history, and lending requirements accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage client relationships with empathy, active listening, and cultural sensitivity.
- Effective communication skills to articulate mortgage terms and risks clearly in accessible language.
- Understanding of New Zealand's regulatory environment for mortgage advice, including responsible lending and compliance obligations.
- Comfortable using digital technologies such as CRM software, secure document exchange, remote meeting tools, and data entry/reporting systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a hybrid work setting, managing schedules and client portfolios effectively.
- Relevant qualifications such as the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services or equivalent, alongside previous experience in mortgage advisory or banking roles being advantageous.
