Meat Associate

Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Meat Associate provides an excellent chance to develop skills within a fast-moving retail setting. Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized, and clearly zoned meat department at all times to enhance the customer shopping experience.
• Regularly rotate stock and promptly remove expired or unsellable items to ensure quality.
• Accurately price and sign all merchandise following established guidelines for ordering, clearances, markups, markdowns, and labeling.
• Strictly adhere to food safety and cold chain protocols, including temperature monitoring, thermometer calibration, appropriate food handling, and compliance with sell-by and expiration dates.
• Take customer orders and prepare deli products such as meats, cheeses, and fried chicken using equipment like slicers, ovens, and fryers safely.
• Comply with all health and safety policies to maintain a hygienic work environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of the business.

Challenges to Anticipate

• Efficiently manage workloads during overnight hours and high-volume periods to maintain focus and energy.
• Handle physical demands such as prolonged standing, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs., occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Consistently perform repetitive tasks such as stocking and organizing with precision to uphold store standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly pay rate for this role is $17.20.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
