Market Street Baker

Role overview

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about baking and comfortable working in a bakery, as a trained baker, or in a professional kitchen. In this in-store fresh bakery role, you will represent the bakery area on Market Street and help deliver fresh, appealing products and excellent service to customers.

What you will do

• Keep customers confident that fresh bakery items are available throughout the day.
• Set up and maintain attractive, well-stocked displays that encourage sales and stay fresh during trading hours.
• Prepare bakery goods according to company standards, using suitable equipment such as provers, ovens, and mixers.
• Produce a range of items including bread, rolls, doughnuts, and fruited baked products.
• Provide warm, helpful service and look for ways to remove customer barriers and create positive moments.
• Promote the traditional bakery skills and fresh products offered in store.

You should be friendly, supportive, and comfortable meeting new people. The role suits someone who enjoys staying active in a busy, changing environment and can use initiative to solve customer queries. You must be able to work with different equipment while keeping health and safety standards high. Strong bakery capability is important, including mixing and shaping dough. You should also be happy to work flexibly across other fresh counters when needed.
