Job Overview
Abode, a leading nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness in the Bay Area, is hiring a Maintenance Technician I for their Resetar supportive housing program in Watsonville, CA. This role focuses on maintaining and servicing a housing facility, collaborating with the janitorial team for unit turnovers, performing daily repairs, and conducting scheduled preventive maintenance in a dynamic environment. The technician will interact respectfully with diverse residents, staff, and vendors, exercising sound judgment.

Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage between $28.00 and $30.80

Key Responsibilities
- Handling after-hours emergency calls as part of an on-call rotation
- Using a registered, insured personal vehicle to transport materials
- Demonstrating pride, professionalism, and confidentiality in all duties
- Upholding company standards and professional demeanor
- Coordinating with and overseeing outside vendors to ensure safe and quality work
- Maintaining accurate documentation for work orders
- Managing inventory for maintenance department supplies
- Conducting inspections to maintain housing quality standards
- Logging work order statuses and communicating updates to management
- Performing other assigned tasks
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in residential maintenance or unit turnover
- Possession of a valid California driver's license, personal insured vehicle, and a clean driving record
Competency Requirements
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities
- Capability to work independently and as part of teams
- Knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, sheetrock repairs, door frame and lock servicing, cabinetry, and appliance troubleshooting
- Familiarity with safety, health regulations, and quality control in maintenance work
- Ability to interact effectively and respectfully with diverse populations
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and company mobile applications
- High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity for relationship-building
Physical Demands
- Effective communication and reading abilities
- Manual dexterity for tools, keyboards, and controls; repetitive hand motions
- Extended periods of standing and sitting
- Driving for extended durations
- Mobility including stair navigation, climbing, crawling, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching overhead and at various levels
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment like mops, vacuums, and carpet cleaners
- Navigating uneven outdoor terrain
