Position Overview
The Learning and Development Specialist owns the full lifecycle of training program creation and delivery for both existing team members and new hires at The Bank of Tampa. Working within the Training and Development Team, this role collaborates with business leaders and subject matter experts to turn business priorities into practical, engaging, and scalable learning experiences. The position calls for a highly independent professional who can build and deliver training with minimal supervision.
Instructional Design and Content Development
- Create, update, and manage instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning solutions independently.
- Convert broad business direction into organized training plans and learning assets.
- Work with subject matter experts and internal partners to ensure content is accurate and aligned.
- Develop facilitator manuals, learner handouts, job aids, and digital learning materials.
- Keep a centralized and organized repository of training resources.
Training Delivery and Facilitation
- Deliver classroom, online, and blended learning sessions.
- Lead systems and application training for newly hired employees and bank-wide initiatives.
- Adjust delivery style to suit different audience types and experience levels.
Learning Management and Administration
- Use LMS tools to schedule training, administer learning activities, and generate reports.
- Maintain complete and accurate training records along with compliance-related documentation.
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Assess training impact using participant feedback and performance data.
- Improve learning approaches based on results and input from stakeholders.
- Prepare summaries and reports covering learner outcomes, program effectiveness, and improvement opportunities.
- Build strong working relationships across functions and organizational levels.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should bring at least 2 years of experience in instructional design or learning and development, plus 1 year of experience delivering training in a professional environment. The role also requires the ability to independently take training initiatives from idea to final delivery.
Preferred Background
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a closely related discipline is preferred. Helpful additions include a professional credential in learning and development, instructional design, or facilitation such as ATD CPTD, APTD, Certified Instructional Designer, or an equivalent certificate. Additional preferred experience includes 3 or more years in instructional design or learning and development, 2 or more years facilitating training, 2 years of banking experience in a frontline or operational role, familiarity with LMS platforms, knowledge of modern learning methods, and experience using eLearning tools such as Articulate, iSpring, or Adobe Premiere.
