Join a small, close-knit team at Beechworth Correctional Centre in a full-time, ongoing administrative position with extensive opportunities for career growth and skill development. The role is classified as VPS Grade 2, offering a salary range of $60,295 to $77,430 plus superannuation.
About Us
Beechworth Correctional Centre operates as a minimum-security facility focusing on preparing inmates for release and aiding their successful reintegration into society. The centre provides meaningful work opportunities across various industries for the men held there to develop skills directly linked to employment post-release. Besides work, prisoners participate in rehabilitative programs addressing offending behaviours, pursue education, engage with visitors, partake in recreational activities, and contribute to community assistance programs.
Role Overview
The Justice Officer at this facility delivers essential services within the prison. Primarily stationed at Beechworth, the role includes responsibilities across corporate services such as managing warehouse and store operations, finance support, purchasing and procurement, stock and inventory control, and working in prisoner shops. This job requires direct contact and supervision of prisoners and may involve working on weekends and public holidays in line with enterprise agreements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and client service duties within the prison environment
- Ensure strong customer service, maintain teamwork, demonstrate integrity, accuracy, compliance, and timely task completion
- Work on-site with direct prisoner interaction
Candidate Profile
Applicants should be able to demonstrate or quickly learn:
- Strong computer literacy skills
- Knowledge and application of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations
- Experience using Oracle or equivalent financial management systems
- Familiarity with shop, store, warehousing operations, and inventory management
