Junior Project Engineer

About the Role

Ventia is seeking a driven Junior Project Engineer to contribute to the execution of planned footpath renewals and additional infrastructure projects within their network. This position offers an excellent chance for aspiring engineers to gain hands-on project management skills in a collaborative and safety-first atmosphere.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting project inspections, scoping, and investigations to ensure effective project completion.
• Support the creation and management of project plans, schedules, and progress reports.
• Track project performance metrics, identify potential risks, and aid in implementing mitigation tactics.
• Collaborate with operational teams providing technical assistance.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
• Seek opportunities for continuous process enhancements and operational excellence.
• Adhere to and promote Ventia's Safe for Life safety philosophy and comply with all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Hold a current New Zealand Class 1 Driver License.
• Have experience or familiarity with project management, planning, and scheduling.
• Understand NZS3910 and NZS3917 contract standards.
• Able to read and interpret engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
• Exhibit strong communication, numerical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrate a proactive, team-oriented approach aligned with the values of Integrity, Collaboration, Challenge, and Ingenuity.
