About the role
MineSense Technologies Ltd. develops solutions that help the mining industry cut waste, improve sustainability, and operate more efficiently. The company is hiring an Intermediate Mining Data Analyst to join its GeoScience team in Vancouver, reporting to the Manager, GeoScience.
This position suits someone with strong interest in statistical analysis and data interpretation in a mining environment. You will work with clients around the world to embed MineSense solutions into ore control workflows and demonstrate the value of the platform. A background in mining, geology, or geophysics is a strong fit for this role.
Responsibilities
- Support both new and existing clients in using MineSense technology within grade control engineering workflows, including preparing client-facing reports and presentations.
- Work with internal teams to build prediction models by comparing mine grade measurements or estimates against sensor outputs to uncover patterns, trends, and other data signals connected to grade, texture, mineralogy, or lithology.
- Partner with the Field Service and Product Development teams to strengthen products and services through system data analysis and data quality checks.
- Measure and monitor model accuracy and precision by comparing outputs with sampled assay grades or grade estimates.
- Prepare and present analysis results and trends for both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Collaborate closely with the Data team to build queries, scripts, and reports while keeping data structured and well maintained.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with clients.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture by sharing knowledge and supporting the learning and development of colleagues.
- Take on other duties as assigned by the manager from time to time.
Requirements
- Degree in Earth Sciences, Geology, Geophysics, Geostatistics, Data Analytics, Mining Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience; mining experience is preferred.
- Prior work involving statistical analysis or data science is preferred.
- Experience with in-grade control or ore control models in a mining setting is preferred.
- Hands-on experience using Python or other statistical analysis tools.
- SQL experience is preferred.
- Strong interest in solving analytical problems across varied datasets using quantitative methods to produce insights.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Professional verbal and written English is required.
- Spanish language ability is strongly preferred.
- Ability to travel and support global offices 10% to 30% of the time.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Compensation and benefits
The salary for the successful candidate will depend on experience, knowledge, skills, location-based market data, and internal equity. The final offer may fall outside the posted range.
