About the Role

Nightingale College is looking for an Instructional Design Specialist II to craft effective learning experiences that equip nursing and healthcare students for practical, career-ready success. In this position, you'll contribute to designing, refining, and implementing learning products across curricula and EvolvEd™ courses by collaborating with other specialists and subject matter experts. The goal is to develop courses that are compliant with standards, evidence-based, and engaging for learners.

You will work at the intersection of instructional science and healthcare education, translating complex nursing and healthcare content into varied learning modalities including instructor-led, e-learning, and blended formats. Ensuring programs meet federal, state, and institutional standards while staying abreast of emerging online teaching trends is a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct cause, knowledge, or gap analyses to select optimal learning delivery approaches
  • Create course guides for both curriculum and EvolvEd™ courses to facilitate instruction
  • Choose instructional design methods, media, and facilitation styles tailored to specific interventions
  • Produce supporting materials to enhance performance improvement strategies
  • Align new and existing course content with appropriate instructional methods across multiple delivery modes
  • Stay informed on nursing and healthcare curriculum research and digital learning innovations
  • Design, assemble, and package online courses using LMS and authoring tools, collaborating with internal and external experts
  • Develop and revise assessments, scoring guides, and curriculum components
  • Map course topics, objectives, and assignments within program designs to ensure standards compliance and assessability
  • Participate in relevant institutional committees and cross-functional initiatives
  • Develop or refine processes to optimize instructional development workflows
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Learning Science, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Assessment, Curriculum Design, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • At least 3 years' experience designing learning technologies, software, or environments
  • Minimum 2 years' experience developing courses with Learning Management Systems and authoring tools
  • Proven ability to design assessments suited for distance learning
  • Strong understanding of concept-based, competency-based, project-based, and other learning design models
  • Experience contributing to learning design systems involving multiple stakeholders and complex requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Over 3 years applying peer-reviewed scholarly research and user research to instructional design
  • Experience in Nursing, Allied Health, or Health Sciences Education
  • Familiarity with micro-credentialing methods
