Job description
Project Overview
Armenia stands at a crucial juncture in environmental action, yet school environmental education remains disjointed and underfunded. We aim to transform this landscape by creating a dynamic environmental education platform for youth. This platform immerses students in understanding and protecting nature through thematic modules covering biodiversity, ecosystems, water, soil, forests, climate change, sustainable development, and civic environmental action. Employing a "learn–act–document" model, it is set to debut at CBD COP17 in Yerevan in October 2026, positioning Armenia as a pioneer in environmental education innovation.
Role Summary
We seek an innovative Instructional Designer to craft the core eLearning modules of the Evergreens platform. This role encompasses full content development from instructional framework and pathway design to storyboarding, module interactivity, learner evaluation, and quality assurance. Collaborating closely with subject experts, an Education Specialist, and platform design and development teams, the candidate will shape how young learners digitally engage with environmental knowledge. Emphasis is on thoughtful sequencing, cognitive load management, learner engagement strategies, and nurturing genuine care and understanding of environmental issues.
Each module should function independently while forming part of a comprehensive, cohesive learning journey. The position demands analytical precision and creative vision to meet high editorial and visual standards inspired by top science communication, ensuring content is engaging and meaningful rather than passively consumed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong background in environmental education or related scientific fields with the ability to clearly communicate to non-experts
- Proven experience designing digital educational content, ideally for youth or adolescents
- Expertise in instructional design frameworks and learning theories such as Bloom's Taxonomy and constructivist methods
- Demonstrated capability in producing detailed storyboards and scripts on diverse environmental themes
- Skilled in creating interactive exercises, scenario-based learning, knowledge checks, and summative assessments
- Effective communication of instructional needs and teamwork with visual and technical teams throughout production cycles
- Experience applying quality assurance standards for instructional integrity, accuracy, and user experience
- Track record of learner testing and iterative content enhancements based on feedback
- Professional fluency in Armenian and English
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with the Armenian or East European/Central Asian education sectors
- Understanding of gamification techniques in youth-focused eLearning
- Experience with digital badges and open credentialing systems
- Participation in EU or internationally funded education or civil society projects
- Portfolio showcasing interactive, multimedia-rich, or scenario-driven eLearning content
Additional Information
The role is part of the EU-funded "Sustainable, Impactful and Inclusive Civil Society" (SIICS) initiative, supported by the Democracy Development Foundation, People in Need, and the Boon Cultural-Scientific Foundation. This initiative aims to empower Armenian civil society as a strong, independent partner in democratic governance and community development.
Applicants should submit their resume promptly. Applications will be reviewed continually, with shortlisted candidates invited for interviews.
