Job Overview
WSP Middle East seeks a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer for an ongoing Property & Building Supervision project located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on managing and enforcing HSE protocols to safeguard employees and ensure legal compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all health, safety, and environmental measures according to the WSP HSEQ Management System to protect personnel.
- Supervise HSE Inspectors to verify that on-site safety practices align with legal standards and client requirements.
- Design and implement HSE training programs for WSP staff, including induction and safe work procedures.
- Assess and approve contractors' HSE plans, risk assessments, and method statements prior to work commencement.
- Schedule and execute daily morning site reviews to confirm preventive safety measures are in place.
- Conduct weekly collaborative inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor teams, ensuring resolution of all identified issues.
- Facilitate HSE meetings involving clients, WSP project personnel, and contractors.
- Lead the initiation and testing of emergency response procedures with regular drills aligned to project timelines.
- Monitor incident investigations led by contractors to ensure thorough analysis and timely closure of corrective actions, offering expert guidance as necessary.
- Perform ongoing safety assessments across project sites.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable leadership experience in HSE roles, especially within construction or engineering sectors.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices applicable to the Middle East.
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities to effectively engage with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making expertise.
- Possession of NEBOSH or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal; Arabic language skills are advantageous.
- Must hold SCE certification in Health & Safety.
