Job description
Role Overview
This volunteer position involves working directly in the homes of parents and their infants or pre-school aged children who require additional support. The main objectives are to assist these families in building their self-confidence, offer companionship, impart practical life skills relevant to home living, provide support with short-term basic tasks, and guide them to utilize community resources effectively.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be practical-minded, open to diverse perspectives, empathetic, and possess strong communication skills coupled with a good sense of humor. Maintaining confidentiality is essential. Experience in child-rearing and household management is preferred. Depending on personal background, useful skills might include establishing parenting routines, managing time efficiently, stress coping mechanisms, menu planning, budgeting, and housekeeping.
Additional Requirements
A current Police background check is mandatory for this role.
Commitment Details
Candidates will undergo an initial recruitment and training process. Following this, the volunteer is expected to commit approximately 1 to 2 hours weekly for a duration of three months.
