Head: Demand Planning & Supply Chain

Role Overview

The Head of Demand Planning & Supply Chain is a pivotal leader within the Sales Planning & Supply Chain Operations team at Stellantis South Africa. Situated in Midrand, Gauteng, this role is responsible for devising, sustaining, and enhancing demand forecasts. Collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations teams, the incumbent analyzes data to produce precise forecasts and guarantees that supply plans match demand.

This position also oversees timely delivery, inventory control, transportation, and warehousing, targeting efficiency and cost optimization. Additionally, this role integrates demand and supply planning with production schedules to meet the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update accurate demand forecasts using statistical models, historical data, and market trends.
• Work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to incorporate promotional activities and market changes into forecasting.
• Lead demand review meetings as part of the Sales and Operations Planning process.
• Regularly assess forecast accuracy, analyze root causes of discrepancies, and implement corrective measures.
• Monitor and report on forecast accuracy and relevant performance indicators.
• Facilitate supply planning by providing reliable demand forecasts.
• Establish and nurture relationships with stakeholders to ensure forecast and operational plan alignment.
• Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations including procurement, production planning, inventory, warehousing, transport, and customer delivery.
• Pursue continuous enhancement of forecasting methods and operational approaches.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Statistics, or related disciplines.
• Certification in demand planning or supply chain management (e.g., CPIM, CSCP) is highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex datasets and optimize logistics and inventory.
• Technical expertise in demand planning and supply chain software (such as SAP APO, Oracle Demantra) alongside proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities to articulate complex information effectively.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with diverse teams.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure and with incomplete data.
• Attention to detail critical for handling intricate forecasting models.
• Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma principles preferred, supporting a culture of ongoing improvement.

Experience

• Comprehensive understanding of the automotive industry’s market dynamics and product lifecycle.
• Several years’ experience in demand planning and supply chain roles, preferably within automotive sector.
• Exposure to Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) processes.
• Background in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean or Six Sigma with the ability to implement process enhancements.
