Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team. This role requires a hands-on leader with a passion for seasonal, local produce and strong menu design capabilities, alongside diligent management of inventory, procurement, and food and labor costs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team by example with a hands-on approach.
  • Design and develop menus in close collaboration with ownership.
  • Oversee food and labor cost controls as well as other key performance indicators.
  • Manage inventory and procurement processes effectively.
  • Cultivate a team-oriented culture focused on chef development and growth.
  • Collaborate closely as part of a small but dedicated kitchen team.
  • Maintain strong relationships and knowledge of local suppliers and Northern Rivers produce.
  • Manage shifting rosters efficiently and communicate clearly.

Candidate Profile

  • At least two years’ experience as Head Chef.
  • Substantial premium a la carte experience in a fine dining restaurant.
  • Experience in upscale wedding and event catering is preferred.
  • Excellent communicator across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to inspire and motivate.
  • In-depth knowledge of safe food handling and hygiene standards.
  • Self-driven, professional, detail-oriented, and punctual individual.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced team environment with a strong passion for quality food and ingredients.
  • Hold a valid Australian working visa.
