Graduate Quantity Surveyor

Overview

Rockwell is looking to welcome a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding and energetic team on a permanent full-time basis in Cork, Ireland. Working closely alongside the Commercial Manager, this role provides extensive mentorship and training from seasoned professionals within the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Quantity Surveying team by analyzing project specifications, drawings, and documentation to fully comprehend project scope and requirements.
• Develop precise cost estimates specifically for Mechanical and HVAC projects utilizing specialized estimating software and industry-standard tools.
• Collaborate on crafting competitive bids and tender submissions in partnership with the estimating team.
• Assist in identifying and assessing vendors and subcontractors based on cost effectiveness, reliability, and project demands.
• Stay updated with industry trends, market developments, and new technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency in estimating.
• Participate in ongoing improvements to estimating processes incorporating insights and feedback from completed projects.
• Work effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement Teams, Clients, and Subcontractors to ensure smooth communication and successful project execution.

Qualifications and Skills

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a closely related discipline.
• Strong academic achievements paired with a genuine passion for quantity surveying within the construction sector.
• Basic understanding of construction contracts, procurement strategies, and cost control principles.
• Keen interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
• Good commercial awareness and responsiveness to industry dynamics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially for generating detailed monthly reports.
• Meticulous attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, and conscientious work ethic.
• Positive mindset, eagerness to learn and succeed, energetic demeanour, and accountability.
• Ability to contribute effectively as a collaborative team member.
