Position Overview
This full-time permanent role is part of the Street Cleansing Unit, focusing on maintaining public spaces by operating patrol trucks to manage litter and illegally dumped rubbish. The role involves working varied rosters generally between 3:30 am and 7:30 am starts, with regular patrol hours from 6 am to 2:30 pm. Responsibilities include cleaning streets, car parks, parks, footpaths, and bus shelters, collecting litter and waste material, and potentially operating specialized street cleaning equipment upon training.
Key Duties
- Perform general municipality cleaning tasks like removing dumped rubbish, litter, dead animals, and sharps.
- Operate mechanical and manual sweeping equipment across various locations including shopping centres and residential streets.
- Complete periodic training on street sweepers, combo trucks, and other machinery associated with drain cleaning and street maintenance.
- Participate in overtime shifts during weekend morning programs.
Required Skills and Experience
- Must hold a current Victorian Driver’s Licence with a Medium Rigid Vehicle endorsement.
- Proven ability to drive trucks safely in urban environments and operate multiple small machinery types.
- Experience delivering high-quality street cleansing or related maintenance services effectively.
