Role Overview

An opening is available for a GCP Data Engineer in Chennai. The position calls for 8 to 10 years of experience and focuses on managing and supporting Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, security, monitoring, and governance functions.

Infrastructure Management

• Provision, set up, and administer Compute Engine virtual machines, including custom images and VM templates.
• Build and maintain VPC networks, subnets, peering connections, and routing setups.
• Configure external and internal load balancing to support traffic distribution and high availability.
• Oversee Cloud Storage buckets, Cloud SQL databases, and related storage services.
• Deploy and manage App Engine and application hosting services.
• Administer Pub/Sub topics, subscriptions, and message delivery workflows.

Security and Compliance

• Set up and maintain Cloud Armor, Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), and OAuth2-based authentication controls.
• Strengthen environments and ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory security standards.
• Work with third-party security and monitoring platforms such as Prisma, DNIF, and similar tools.
• Manage vaults, encryption keys, and access permissions to protect sensitive information.
• Implement Google Directory Sync (GCDS) for identity and access integration.

Monitoring and Operations

• Use native GCP services such as Cloud Logging and Cloud Monitoring for alerts, log analysis, and performance tuning.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery preparedness.
• Connect GCP environments with external tools to improve observability and automation.
• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for consistent execution.

Architecture and Governance

• Assist in the design and rollout of hub-and-spoke network architectures for scalable cloud setups.
• Coordinate with security, DevOps, and application teams to enable smooth deployments.
• Review cloud resource usage regularly and improve cost efficiency.
