Role Overview
We are seeking a diligent and inquisitive Fraud Investigation Associate to act as the frontline defense against identity theft and fraud schemes. While the FinCrime team sets policies, you will perform hands-on investigations to detect synthetic identities and obstruct fraudulent actors.
This position involves managing the fraud detection lifecycle for U.S. personal loans and credit card portfolios, analyzing both pre- and post-onboarding stages. The role requires identifying fraud patterns ranging from simple identity theft to complex, organized fraud ring operations. The ideal candidate enjoys synthesizing information to safeguard company assets and protect consumers from identity compromises.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate suspicious identity and application fraud at onboarding to identify synthetic identities and third-party fraud.
- Perform in-depth investigations on potential fraud rings and organized crime, collaborating with senior leadership on cases of significant impact.
- Handle case management and Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation, preparing detailed case files for Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) review by second line of defense teams.
- Conduct initial reviews of Sanctions and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) screening alerts to ensure compliance and avoid prohibited transactions.
- Address disputes related to fraud claims from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs), facilitating fair resolutions for identity theft victims.
- Engage directly with U.S. consumers to verify identity details and confirm authenticity of high-risk applications.
Candidate Profile
- At least two years of investigative experience in fraud detection within U.S. fintech, personal loans, or credit card sectors, or comparable FinCrime investigative expertise from U.S. law enforcement.
- Strong technical proficiency with identity verification systems such as Alloy or Socure, capable of analyzing identity reports beyond basic pass/fail outcomes. Experienced with identification databases and complex fraud pattern investigations.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to document comprehensive investigation findings clearly, facilitating easy understanding by leadership, regulatory bodies, and banking partners.
- Knowledgeable about relevant regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) as it relates to fraud disputes and consumer safeguards.
Compensation and Benefits
Annual salary ranges from $80,000 to $120,000, with an extended compensation possibility up to $140,000.
- Join a high-performing team scaling one of the most successful fintech enterprises globally.
- Flexible working arrangements ranging from fully remote to hybrid roles, including regular social events and off-site gatherings.
- Opportunities for social engagement and team-building beyond work hours.
- Comprehensive health support including private medical coverage.
- Retirement savings plans to support long-term financial wellness.
- Competitive referral bonuses for recommending new hires.
- On-site amenities such as stocked kitchens and complimentary lunches at selected offices.
- Environmentally friendly commuting options including cycle-to-work and electric vehicle schemes where available.
