Role Overview

We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial foundation of our rapidly expanding company. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, you will manage core accounting functions from start to finish, contribute to financial projections, board reporting, and develop financial systems that support scalable growth. Your role will be central in maintaining capital discipline, leveraging automation and AI extensively within the finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end financial closings, delivering reliable financial statements.
• Oversee daily accounting activities including revenue recognition, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
• Drive automation initiatives to streamline finance functions using AI and other advanced tools.
• Lead and mentor a small finance team of one to two direct reports, fostering professional development and high-quality deliverables.
• Manage annual audits and maintain compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Collaborate with the VP of Finance to develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Prepare detailed board and investor reports, especially tracking critical SaaS metrics such as ARR, NRR, CAC, and burn multiples.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve financial systems, controls, and processes scalable to company growth.
• Work closely with department heads on spending control, workforce planning, and evaluating unit economics.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a CPA certification.
• Have at least five years progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of three years in senior controller or accounting leadership roles.
• Demonstrate a strong preference and proven history of automating manual finance tasks and processes.
• Experience working in a high-growth SaaS or startup environment, well-versed in SaaS-specific revenue recognition and performance metrics.
• Hands-on experience with financial planning and analysis including budgeting, forecasting, and senior-level reporting.
• Proven expertise in establishing or upgrading financial systems, controls, and operational procedures.
• Highly detail-oriented and motivated by deadlines, with the ability to navigate ambiguity commonly found in scaling startups.
• Additional preferred qualifications include background in Big 4 accounting firms or audit and experience managing multi-entity or international financial operations.
