About Citylogix
Citylogix is a data-driven company specializing in transforming transportation infrastructure management. We develop innovative GIS and asset management tools that empower municipalities and engineering partners to make decisions grounded in solid evidence. Our team blends the flexibility of startup culture with deep technical know-how, operating at the crossroads of geospatial technology and civil infrastructure to tackle real-world challenges and foster smarter, more resilient urban communities.
Role Overview
This position involves versatile fieldwork where every technician engages with multiple data collection methods:
- Driving a LiDAR-equipped vehicle to gather roadway and pavement information.
- Operating survey e-scooters to obtain video and geospatial data for sidewalk networks.
- Conducting on-foot surveys to measure and evaluate curb ramps and sidewalk conditions.
Assignments depend strictly on project demands rather than individual preferences or specialization. A single project might require switching between all three collection modes on the same day or week. Preference for specific methods will not influence task assignments.
As a field technician focused solely on data capture, your role is to collect accurate, comprehensive, and well-documented field data using Citylogix's proprietary devices and applications. Data processing, analysis, and deliverables are managed by our dedicated office teams. Daily data transfer and verification using company software is also required.
Important Work Conditions
- Frequent solo travel to project sites with independent deployment.
- Assignments last for multiple weeks, driven by project scope and client schedules.
- During peak seasons, technicians remain onsite for the full duration; the company covers travel, lodging, and per diem but typically does not fund interim flights home during these periods.
- Time off requires a minimum four-week advance request for scheduling and coverage planning.
- Early shifts starting around 6:00 AM, lasting between 8 to 10 hours to utilize daylight efficiently.
- Workweeks of 5 to 6 days with occasional weekend and overtime hours.
- Full physical engagement in one or multiple modes daily, including driving up to 8 hours, e-scooter riding for 8-10 hours, or walking/measuring for 8-10 hours.
- Daily handling of equipment setup, installation, and transportation, including some items weighing over 20 kilograms.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive and operate LiDAR-equipped collection vehicles to acquire roadway and pavement data as assigned.
- Use survey e-scooters and mobile collection apps to capture video and geospatial sidewalk data.
- Perform pedestrian surveys measuring attributes and conditions of sidewalks and curb ramps, including detailed geometric measurements.
- Adhere strictly to Citylogix’s collection protocols and use all provided tools as instructed.
- Seamlessly transition between vehicle, scooter, and pedestrian data collection modes per project needs.
- Perform daily data transfers and verifications using company software to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Consistently meet quality and delivery goals, promptly reporting any data or equipment issues.
- Communicate and coordinate daily with fellow team members, field supervisors, and office personnel for smooth project implementation.
- Maintain, set up, and transport equipment carefully following company procedures.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Valid and clean U.S. driver’s license.
- Passport enabling cross-border travel between Canada and the U.S. for company appointments.
- Physical capability to ride e-scooters for long shifts and walk substantial distances (5-10 km/day).
- Strength and endurance to handle and maneuver equipment over 20 kg daily.
- Willingness to travel extensively, work overtime, and occasional weekends as projects require.
- Adaptability to sudden schedule, location, or task changes in a dynamic field environment.
- Proficiency with computers, mobile apps, and structured data input.
- Exceptional attention to detail and rigorous adherence to procedures.
- Ability to operate independently and maintain focus over extended periods.
- Effective, prompt communication to raise issues or updates without delay.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Completion of a background check and driver record verification.
- Minimum educational qualification of a High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred but Not Required
- Field or on-road data collection experience.
- Background in surveying, civil engineering, or pavement management.
- Associate degree in science, engineering, geography, or GIS.
Travel and Scheduling
- Willingness and ability to travel 100% as required.
Work Location
Fully onsite at project locations.
