Role Purpose
The Executive - Horticulture ensures the health, visual appeal, and sustainability of airport greenery. They manage hands-on landscaping maintenance and contribute to comprehensive horticultural efforts across airport premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily horticultural operations in both airside and landside zones.
- Ensure landscape maintenance tasks are performed as per schedules and quality standards.
- Carry out regular inspections of plants, shrubs, turf, and trees to detect and address health or aesthetic issues including pest management and pruning.
- Coordinate with landscaping contractors to ensure adherence to design and airport standards; report any issues to the Lead - Horticulture promptly.
- Maintain irrigation systems and equipment through routine checks and work with vendors to handle repairs or replacements swiftly.
- Monitor and manage inventory of horticulture supplies like fertilizers, pesticides, and tools; ensure timely procurement to avoid shortages.
- Adhere to environmental and airport safety regulations during all landscaping activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Operations, Safety, Compliance, and IT to synchronize landscaping tasks with airport functions.
- Engage external stakeholders including landscape architects, contractors, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and community groups to facilitate smooth operations and compliance.
Stakeholder Interaction
Coordinates with various internal departments including Horticulture leadership, Finance, Facility Management, Environment & Sustainability, Procurement, Maintenance, Security, Operations, and IT teams. Externally interacts with landscape designers, regulatory agencies (DGCA, PESO), plant nurseries, pest control vendors, fertilizer suppliers, government horticulture and environmental bodies, waste management, and community organizations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related disciplines.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience managing horticulture or landscaping operations, preferably within large infrastructure projects like airports, hotels, or commercial complexes.
