Exchange Control Team Leader

About the Role

Old Mutual South Africa is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to assume the position of Team Leader for Exports within the Exchange Control team located in Harare, Zimbabwe. This role involves supervising export operations, ensuring adherence to Exchange Control legislation, managing related operational risks, and offering leadership and support to team members while maintaining excellent service standards for both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Authorize export documentation and transaction processing in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Conduct thorough reviews of export returns and Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) applications to verify accuracy and regulatory conformity.
• Monitor export acquittals, conditional approvals, and address customer inquiries to guarantee timely and compliant resolutions.
• Generate detailed departmental reports and maintain precise records and supporting documentation.
• Develop, assess, and implement operational policies, controls, and service agreements to optimize efficiency.
• Coordinate and oversee risk management activities including audits and regulatory inspections, ensuring timely rectification measures are applied.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate the Exchange Control team to meet and exceed departmental objectives.
• Organize training programs and facilitate knowledge sharing focused on Exchange Control regulations and export processing procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Business, Banking, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
• Additional professional certifications in Banking or Finance are advantageous.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in Exchange Control or International Banking sectors.

Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of foreign exchange and export transaction processes.
• Strong grasp of Exchange Control regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Excellent skills in communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Proven leadership capabilities including coaching and team management.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving and diligent risk management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.
• High degree of accuracy, ethical conduct, and meticulous attention to detail.
