Excavator Operator

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator for a full-time position located in Malta, specializing in quarry work, road construction, and civil engineering projects. The candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently handling various heavy machinery to assist with excavation and infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, wheel loaders, dumpers, skid steer loaders, and similar heavy equipment responsibly and efficiently.
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, site preparation, and earth-moving tasks.
• Execute road building and civil works aligned with project requirements.
• Support quarry operations by loading, relocating, and transporting materials.
• Conduct daily machine inspections and basic maintenance to ensure operational safety and functionality.
• Promptly report mechanical defects or issues with any equipment.
• Follow directives from site supervisors and collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives on schedule.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
• Handle preparation, lifting, and transportation of tools, equipment, and construction materials as needed.
• Assist with general site manual labor and housekeeping duties to maintain orderliness.
• Undertake ancillary tasks as delegated by management.

Candidate Requirements

• At least five years of demonstrated experience operating excavators in quarry, road construction, excavation, or civil engineering environments.
• Mandatory proficiency in operating wheel loaders.
• Additional experience with dumpers and skid steer loaders is a plus.
• Possession of a valid heavy equipment operator license or certification, if applicable.
• Solid grounding in excavation methodologies, road construction processes, and safety standards.
• Basic mechanical skills to perform routine equipment inspections.
• Capability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
• Physically robust with readiness to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
• Meticulous attention to safety and detail in the workplace.
