Equity Research Analyst / Junior Associate – Biotechnology Sector

Overview

Join Guggenheim Securities as a dedicated Equity Research Analyst or Junior Associate focusing on the Biotechnology sector. This role involves tracking both public and private biotechnology companies to assist in providing insightful stock recommendations to institutional investors. Candidate should have a life sciences background coupled with an enthusiasm for equity research and financial modeling, especially in immunology-focused biotechnology.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the research team by performing fundamental analyses and investment research within equity markets, emphasizing original bottom-up research in Biotechnology.
• Analyze specific biotechnology firms by constructing and maintaining comprehensive financial and valuation models.
• Prepare detailed research reports and presentations; draft notes on relevant investment themes, significant events, and emerging news.
• Conduct primary research through diverse industry sources, including financial analysis, due diligence on clinical data, trend observation, and company management strategies.
• Coordinate physician calls for investor engagement and assist in organizing investor events.
• Maintain and periodically update analyst marketing materials.
• Liaise with the firm's institutional sales teams and investor clients.
• Address inquiries from clients and internal teams regarding research insights and directives.

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; PhD or business degree preferred but not mandatory.
• 1 to 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to interpret and analyze scientific and medical literature and presentations.

Additional Information

• The position is primarily based in the New York office and expects the incumbent to be onsite at least four days a week.
• Annual base salary ranges from 100000 to 140000 USD, depending on location and experience. This figure represents base pay only; total compensation may include incentives.
