Engineer Protection & Control - Maintenance

Role Overview

This position is for a Protection & Control Maintenance Engineer based in Dubai, UAE. The role sits within the TP&OT-M&C department and focuses on maintaining and supporting protection, control, automation, and metering systems used in transmission substations.

Experience and Education

Candidates are expected to bring at least 6 years of relevant experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Applicants with a Diploma in Electrical Engineering must have a minimum of 7 years of experience. The maximum age for consideration is 35 years.

Core Technical Scope

The job involves hands-on maintenance of protection, control, automation, and metering equipment across 400/132/11/0.4 kV transmission substations. The selected engineer should be comfortable testing numerical relays and related devices using computerized test sets, as well as checking and validating control, protection, and metering schematic drawings.

Substation Work Requirements

Experience in live substation environments is required, along with the ability to independently prepare method statements for site work. The role also calls for familiarity with international standards related to protection systems, automation, and cybersecurity.

Planning and Coordination

The engineer must be capable of organizing and scheduling site activities, supporting project management tasks, and working with health and safety requirements. Proficiency in MS Office tools is also expected.
