Role overview
Hub Group is seeking a Driver Recruiter to handle end-to-end hiring for Company Drivers and Independent Contractors. This position focuses on attracting, assessing, and moving qualified driver candidates through the recruiting funnel while supporting staffing needs across assigned locations.
What you will do
- Run the complete recruiting process for drivers, from initial sourcing and screening through interviews and candidate presentation for hire.
- Build and keep a strong pipeline of driver talent using Tenstreet, referrals, networking, social media, job boards, recruiting events, cold outreach, and similar sourcing channels.
- Work closely with the Driver Recruiting Manager, Terminal Managers, and Operations leaders to understand hiring needs and priorities for the locations you support.
- Interview candidates to evaluate qualifications, driving background, safety record, and overall alignment with Hub Group openings.
- Clearly explain role expectations, pay structure, benefits, equipment, routes, and the company value proposition to prospective drivers.
- Stay in regular contact with candidates during the hiring process and provide timely updates to create a positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate with the Recruiting Coordinator on background checks, DOT qualification steps, onboarding, and pre-employment paperwork.
- Keep recruiting actions compliant with DOT rules, company policies, and applicable employment laws.
- Maintain accurate candidate and pipeline records in Tenstreet and any other recruiting systems.
- Take part in hiring events, job fairs, industry networking, and other sourcing efforts to attract qualified drivers.
- Track recruiting activity and personal performance metrics, and share progress updates on hiring and pipeline status.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with drivers, referral partners, and industry contacts to support ongoing recruiting results.
- Complete other assigned duties and special projects as needed.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable industry experience.
- At least 2 years of DOT driver recruiting experience in transportation or logistics.
- Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations, driver qualification standards, CDL classifications, and transportation recruiting practices.
- Experience handling high-volume recruiting and multiple open requisitions at the same time.
- Background in a high-volume call center environment.
- Comfort using applicant tracking systems; Tenstreet experience is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively in a team setting.
- Capability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust quickly in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred background
- Experience recruiting both company drivers and independent contractors.
- Experience supporting regional or multi-site recruiting operations.
- Prior use of Tenstreet or a similar transportation recruiting platform.
- Understanding of current recruiting trends and best practices in the transportation industry.
Compensation
The base salary may go up to $75,000 per year, plus eligibility for an additional incentive program. This is an estimated range and may vary depending on skills, experience, education, market conditions, location, budget, and demand.
