About the Role
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is a global IT services and consulting leader with over five decades of experience delivering technology-driven business solutions. This role based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, focuses on Denodo development along with providing comprehensive application support to enhance data virtualization and analytics processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, create, and optimize Denodo views, Virtual DataPort (VDP) models, and related data services to support analytics, BI, and reporting needs.
- Develop logical data layers and implement data federation, caching, and query optimization strategies.
- Integrate Denodo platform with various Lakehouse sources including databases, cloud environments, and object storage.
- Support code migrations, deployments, and stabilization following releases to ensure smooth operations.
- Deliver L1 and L2 support for Denodo components such as VDP, Data Catalog, Scheduler, and Solution Manager.
- Monitor system health, query performances, and server activities using Denodo monitoring tools along with performing routine health checks and operational reporting.
- Manage incident and problem resolution including troubleshooting query failures, slowdowns, and data access problems, with a focus on root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Ensure seamless data lakehouse integration by managing connectivity across Teradata, cloud, and other external data sources, maintaining metadata ingestion, lineage, and catalog accuracy.
- Oversee scheduler and job orchestration processes including cache refreshes, scheduled queries, and automation workflows; promptly address job failures and performance issues.
- Provide support for Denodo web and backend applications, including React/Redux UI modules, Java backend logs, REST API troubleshooting, JVM and Tomcat performance issues.
- Maintain and manage Denodo metadata repository to guarantee data integrity, backup, validation, and environmental consistency.
- Optimize overall performance by refining query execution plans, caching mechanisms, and data federation approaches on large-scale data workloads.
- Facilitate release and change management activities according to ITIL best practices, perform deployments, code promotions, and post-release validations.
- Document runbooks, standard operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and architectural designs; automate monitoring and regression tests via scripting techniques.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Between 3 to 8+ years of experience in Denodo development and associated application support roles.
- Expertise in data virtualization, federation, and query optimization, with hands-on knowledge of Denodo tools like VDP, Scheduler, and Catalog.
- Experience working with Data Lakehouse environments such as Teradata, Hadoop, or cloud platforms.
- Strong skills in SQL and metadata management techniques.
- Proven track record in incident and production support management, including working in 24/7 on-call setups.
- Academic credentials include Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related disciplines; Denodo certification is preferred.
Technical Skills and Tools
- Denodo platform components: Virtual DataPort, Data Catalog, Scheduler, Solution Manager.
- Backend development with Java 17 and RESTful APIs.
- Frontend technologies including React, Redux, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and Bootstrap.
- Web server management using Tomcat 10.x.
- Database management using SQL Server 2022.
- Familiarity with modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
