Company Overview
The role is based at Ibis Wellington, the city’s largest economy hotel, situated within easy reach of major venues such as Takina, Te Papa, TSB, and Sky Stadium. The property is built to handle large groups efficiently and consistently, and features lively Vivant restaurant spaces serving a substantial buffet breakfast along with à la carte lunch and dinner.
Role Summary
As a Demi Chef de Partie, you will contribute directly to the kitchen’s day-to-day success by preparing high-quality dishes that encourage guests to return. Your cooking skill and attention to detail will help support smooth service across starters, mains, and other menu items.
Key Responsibilities
You will help manage food service flow, coordinate with senior chefs, and support both production and service teams so the kitchen runs smoothly. The position also involves preparing food to recipe and quality standards, working quickly to meet orders, keeping the section clean and hygienic, and helping control food costs and wastage through efficient preparation practices.
Working Pattern
This role requires availability across seven days on a rotating roster.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate brings a genuine passion for food, prior experience in a comparable kitchen role, strong à la carte experience, and the ability to stay calm and productive under pressure. You should work well as part of a team, adapt easily to changing guest needs, and consistently produce quality food for all outlets.

Applicants must be New Zealand residents or hold a valid permanent New Zealand work visa. Visa sponsorship or immigration support is not available for this position.
