Job description
Role Overview
As the Dean of Faculty, you will lead and oversee our academic programs, support faculty growth, and uphold exceptional educational standards to positively influence the institution's future.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and surpass accreditation benchmarks for program completion annually (NACCAS 50% or COE 60%).
- Collaborate with Career Services to ensure programs maintain at least 70% student placement each year.
- Ensure exam pass rates meet or exceed 70%, with 90% of graduates passing licensure exams where applicable.
- Guide faculty to prepare graduates who are career-ready and aligned with placement objectives.
- Model and promote curriculum concepts to enhance student success academically and professionally.
- Work closely with Career Services to address student issues throughout externship periods, retaining responsibility for students.
- Maintain clean and welcoming facilities including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and breakrooms.
- Respond promptly to faculty requests or concerns within 24-48 hours.
- Manage faculty recruitment, development, coaching, and, if needed, termination.
- Conduct faculty training on policies, procedures, and utilize company resources for guidance.
- Monitor and ensure faculty complete required training within set deadlines.
- Provide safety training to all new faculty within their first two weeks.
- Guarantee qualified instructors deliver classes effectively both on-campus and virtually.
- Oversee faculty adherence to campus and company policies and initiatives.
- Perform bi-monthly faculty observations (minimum six per year), providing feedback and coaching with documented follow-up.
- Verify instructors follow prescribed curriculum and deliver engaging in-person and distance education experiences.
- Organize monthly faculty meetings with agendas, minutes, and attendance records.
- Ensure each instructor completes two employer site visits annually as per policy.
- Maintain curriculum integrity and successfully implement updates.
- Confirm availability and good working condition of classroom equipment and supplies to meet student needs.
- Facilitate ongoing staff development, training new hires comprehensively and promoting 12 hours of annual professional development.
- Promote staff retention by maintaining a stable instructional team and celebrating accomplishments; keep voluntary attrition below 20% annually.
- Complete at least 90% of employee annual evaluations on time and coordinate with HR on all personnel processes.
- Manage faculty schedules, student ratios, and payroll tasks accurately and according to HR standards.
- Engage in campus staff/management meetings, education leadership calls, accreditation meetings, and advisory committee sessions.
- Prepare and submit monthly completion projection reports as required.
- Support transparent communication and interdepartmental cooperation.
- Ensure quarterly updates and proper documentation post for educational and administrative records.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
- At least three years of experience in academic administration or faculty roles, preferably in post-secondary education.
- License in cosmetology or related field favored.
- Teaching experience is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage students, staff, and faculty.
- Strong passion for student success and academic achievement.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Customer service oriented mindset to support the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
- Result-driven with consistent follow-through on goals and projects.
- Adherence to ethical standards and institution’s core values including accountability, integrity, growth, service, and communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Open to learning and using educational software including Learning Management and Student Information Systems.
- Competent in coaching and mentoring faculty to enforce policies and implement engaging instructional methods.
- Effective in faculty training delivery on roles and educational tools.
