Role Overview

The Data Scientist position entails extracting insights from complex datasets through comprehensive data curation, analysis, interpretation, visualization, and effectively communicating findings to research personnel and company leadership. This role is vital within a machine learning-driven organization, where data insights significantly influence business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy systems to maintain data integrity and continuously monitor the health of data repositories and live data feeds.
• Detect unusual behavior in production environments proactively and clearly report issues to relevant team members.
• Collaborate with leadership in conducting spontaneous analyses of research and trading systems.
• Apply statistical techniques to evaluate production trading and research datasets to guide subsequent projects.
• Create automated analysis pipelines to regularly perform valuable monitoring analyses.

Basic Qualifications

• At least one year of applied end-to-end industry experience or internships involving complex datasets, covering data curation, querying, aggregation, exploratory analysis, and visualization.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis for pattern detection, root cause examination, insight discovery, and solution suggestion.
• Ability to mathematically formulate and resolve questions and infer practical future directions based on retrospective data analysis.
• Experience managing and visualizing tabular data using SQL, polars, and R.
• Fundamental software development expertise, including familiarity with bash, Linux/Unix, and git version control.
• Strong communication skills with the capacity to refine ambiguous requests and produce thorough, clear reports.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, biostatistics, data science, computer science, or a related discipline.
• Exceptional clarity of thought and analytical acumen.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline.
• Industry experience or demonstrable interest in finance, including academic projects, financial engineering coursework, or internships.
• Experience working in production environments with exposure to tools and concepts like CI/CD pipelines and Airflow orchestration.
