Role Summary

The Data Engineer position involves designing and leading the development of data ingestion pipelines and data transformation projects within a Hadoop ecosystem, focused on supporting data science and analytics initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines utilizing Big Data/Hadoop technologies such as SQOOP, HADOOP, HDFS, HIVE, IMPALA, Java, Scala, and Spark.
• Write and test production-quality code primarily in Scala, a mandatory skill for this role.
• Participate actively in the solution design process by analyzing requirements to meet project objectives.
• Serve as the technical lead for a squad responsible for data product development and Hadoop-based data transformation tasks.
• Lead and manage a team of 3-5 data engineers to deliver projects with minimal supervision, coordinating with broader IT and business teams.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong experience and hands-on skills with Big Data and Hadoop technologies.
• Proficiency and mandatory expertise in Scala programming language.
• Ability to develop, test, and implement code into production environments.
• Experience in analyzing requirements to assist in solution design phases.
• Proven leadership capability managing small technical teams.
