Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Design Engineer to assist in the selection of data center sites, master planning, reviewing designs, supervising construction, and commissioning essential infrastructure components such as electrical systems, cooling plants, air handling units, and liquid cooling setups. This position involves engagement throughout the entire data center lifecycle—from conducting technical due diligence on potential sites to handing over completed projects to operations. Collaboration with external data center providers and internal teams is key to ensuring that critical data center systems satisfy design criteria, redundancy standards, and reliability targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in evaluating data center site options by performing technical compliance reviews of critical system designs submitted by operators, and support due diligence related to land, energy, connectivity, and other resources.
  • Participate in analyzing various data center development approaches, including greenfield, retrofit or repurposing of existing sites, built-to-suit, powered land, and powered core & shell models.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to develop technical solutions that incorporate critical system requirements into the infrastructure design and data hall fit-outs, focusing on high-density setups and liquid-cooled GPU deployments, covering aspects such as cluster design, electrical infrastructure, cooling, and connectivity.
  • Support activities related to testing, commissioning, and validation of data center systems.
  • Contribute to the advancement of data center design architectures incorporating emerging technologies such as high voltage DC systems and solid-state transformers to prepare for future GPU deployment pipelines.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to support business needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Accumulate 6 to 8 years of relevant hands-on experience in data center infrastructure design.
  • Experience across diverse data center development modalities such as greenfield projects, brownfield retrofits, repurposing of facilities, built-to-suit developments, powered land, and powered core & shell solutions.
  • Have participated in large-scale data center rollouts incorporating high-density liquid cooling systems. Comprehensive experience in the full engineering lifecycle—design, delivery, testing & commissioning, and operations—is highly preferred.
  • Understand different centralized cooling plant technologies, including air-cooled, water-cooled, or hybrid systems, as well as liquid cooling infrastructure components like CDUs, manifolds, and coolant distribution networks, which is advantageous owing to increased GPU/high-density deployments.
  • Strong comprehension of medium to large GPU cluster design needs, covering electrical distribution, chilled water supply (FWS), thermal control system loops (TCS), and network interconnections.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or an equivalent local credential is considered beneficial.
  • Demonstrated capability in stakeholder management, adept at coordinating requirements between varied internal and external parties.
