About the Position
Ignte is seeking a Data and Reporting Analyst based in Sydney with a hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days onsite weekly at WeWork. This permanent full-time role (four days a week considered) sits within a small team supporting major Australian charities by analyzing and comparing fundraising data from 25 million de-identified supporters to enhance fundraising effectiveness and supporter experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Validate and ensure quality of incoming client data by reviewing completeness and accuracy before processing.
- Reconcile loaded data against client submissions, investigating and rectifying discrepancies caused by issues such as misaligned identifiers and missing data.
- Create and execute data queries proactively to verify data integrity and maintain detailed documentation and trackers.
- Develop client reports from dashboards, draft analytical commentary supported by AI tools, prepare visuals for workshops, and assist with client data inquiries.
- From three months onward, manage automated data preparation workflows to ingest client data, improving efficiency and documenting processes.
- From six months onward, modify and build Tableau dashboards, managing data sources, refresh cycles, permissions, and release workflows to ensure clear, intuitive visualizations suitable for fundraising teams.
- From nine months onward, engage in statistical modeling using R or Python to support propensity scoring, segmentation, value modeling, and significance testing, progressing models to client-ready standards.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, econometrics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Preliminary experience coding in R or Python from academics or self-learning, with ability to discuss coding work.
- Understanding of core statistical principles including significance, sample size, distributions, and correlation nuances.
- Exposure to SQL or a strong aptitude and motivation to learn quickly.
- High technical curiosity with ability to learn new software, read documentation, and dissect systems.
- Analytical mindset able to interpret results meaningfully beyond surface data.
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Strong written communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical findings to non-experts.
- Appreciation for effective visual design in data communication.
- Genuine enthusiasm for making an impact through data supporting charitable organizations.
- Organizational skills managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Eligibility to work in Australia (this position does not offer visa sponsorship).
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with dashboard tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with visual data preparation tools such as KNIME, Alteryx, or PowerQuery.
- Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Background in statistical modeling techniques including regression, classification, and clustering.
- Portfolio of personal data projects, competition entries or relevant presentations.
- Previous experience or volunteering within the charity sector.
Development Plan
- Months 1-3: Gain full understanding of data models and client reporting workflows; confidently validate data; produce documentation of data logic.
- Months 3-6: Independently manage routine data ingestion and client reports; perform basic dashboard adaptations.
- Months 6-12: Tackle complex data ingestion, develop new dashboards, and contribute to statistical modeling.
Career Progression
This role is designed to grow technically and responsively to candidates’ strengths, with pathways toward senior analyst roles, data science, data engineering, or consulting based on aptitude and interest.
