About the company
Riyadh Air (RX), based in the Saudi capital, is a newly established national airline with a vision to redefine air travel. The airline aims to help position Saudi Arabia as a major global center for aviation and trade by building a digitally native carrier that will connect the Kingdom with more than 100 destinations.
Role overview
As a Crew Duty Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing worldwide crew operations across both Flight and Cabin Crew functions. The role focuses on keeping crew resources well coordinated, ensuring safe and efficient airline operations, and supporting cost-effective decision-making. You will work in the Operations Control Center (OCC) and Crew Operations Center within a fast-paced 24/7 environment, managing rosters, compliance, crew readiness, and incident handling while maintaining required qualifications and certifications.
You will also be expected to make prompt operational decisions, communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders, and represent senior leadership when coordinating with internal departments, outside service providers, and relevant authorities. In addition, the position contributes to process improvements and strategic initiatives designed to improve operational performance and crew well-being.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee crew rosters and ensure alignment with flight duty time limits, fatigue risk controls, and applicable aviation rules and standards, including GACA, IATA, and ICAO requirements.
- Respond to operational disruptions such as delays, cancellations, emergencies, and rerouting while protecting crew readiness and welfare.
- Serve as a primary contact for crew members, leadership, and other stakeholders by communicating updates, resolving issues, and helping guide crew deployment decisions.
- Work closely with airport operations, OCC teams, and regulators to maintain smooth and coordinated crew activity.
- Review shift performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and crew satisfaction.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings experience in crew control, crew scheduling, or planning, ideally in a supervisory role, along with a practical understanding of airline operations and aviation regulations. You should be comfortable making timely, data-informed decisions in high-pressure situations and have the resilience to work in a dynamic operational setting.
Strong communication, stakeholder management, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills are important for success in this role. Familiarity with crew management systems and Microsoft Office is also expected. The position requires flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School diploma (Grade 12) plus at least 4 years of vocational experience in an operational environment.
- At least 4 years of experience in crew control, crew scheduling, or planning, preferably with supervisory responsibility.
- Additional certifications in aviation operations or crew resource management are considered an advantage.
- Strong command of English is required; Arabic language ability is beneficial.
Additional information
This position operates in a 24/7 environment and may require irregular working hours, including weekends and public holidays. The company is seeking someone who can adapt quickly, support crew welfare, and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives across the department.
