Job Overview
This position involves preparing and cooking complete meals or individual dishes, including special meals as instructed by dietitians or chefs. The role requires supervision and training of kitchen staff, maintaining inventory, organizing buffets and banquets, and managing overall kitchen operations. The work must be carried out at the physical location in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook various meals and dishes.
- Prepare special meals for patients based on dietary instructions.
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure standards.
- Train kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking, and handling.
- Supervise kitchen employees and helpers.
- Maintain records and inventory of food, supplies, and equipment.
- Organize and coordinate buffets and banquets.
- Oversee kitchen operations efficiently.
