Role Purpose
The Communications Officer is responsible for delivering clear, consistent, and engaging messaging across all CMJ communication platforms. This role is key to promoting events, initiatives, and the value of membership effectively to increase engagement and boost the organisation's presence and growth through impactful storytelling, campaign management, and stakeholder communication.
Primary Responsibilities
- Create and distribute compelling communications via digital, social media, email, and printed formats to highlight CMJ's activities.
- Develop, edit, and manage content such as newsletters, press releases, website updates, and social media posts that align with CMJ's brand and voice.
- Assist in planning and implementing integrated communication campaigns supporting events, member services, and commercial projects.
- Maintain communication channels to ensure material is timely, relevant, and captivating, coordinating closely with Marketing and Membership teams.
- Establish and nurture relationships with media outlets, press contacts, and key stakeholders to enhance CMJ’s profile and public relations scope.
- Act as the primary contact for communications-related queries and manage media outreach for press coverage and PR opportunities.
- Support communication efforts for CMJ trade shows and events, including producing event materials and onsite messaging to maintain a professional communications presence.
- Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness by analyzing media coverage, campaign success, and social media engagement; report insights and suggest improvements.
- Keep precise records of communication activities and outputs.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related domain.
- Previous work experience in a communications capacity.
- Exceptional written and oral communication abilities with a sharp eye for detail.
- Hands-on experience managing social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, and content management systems.
- Strong organisational capabilities capable of juggling multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Confident in engaging and building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in events, membership organisations, or retail industries.
- Familiarity with PR and media relations strategies.
- Creative thinker with talent for engaging storytelling to captivate audiences.

Additional Information
Salary: £30000 to £35000 annually depending on experience.
