Overview
Our client is a leading semiconductor materials manufacturer seeking a Commodity Manager specializing in metals. This role demands expertise in metal commodities, market insights, and strategic sourcing to manage commodity-related risks effectively. The individual will operate as an independent contributor within the organization.
Key Duties
- Continuously monitor global metal markets, including key metals like copper, aluminum, tin, steel, and nickel.
- Evaluate market trends, commodity indices, supply-demand cycles, and geopolitical influences affecting commodities.
- Forecast prices and deliver market intelligence to procurement teams and other business partners.
- Formulate and implement strategies to optimize costs, mitigate risks, and secure uninterrupted supply of metal commodities.
- Lead initiatives focused on cost reduction, avoidance, and value engineering opportunities.
- Establish and nurture strategic supplier relationships and facilitate key supplier programs.
- Develop procurement frameworks, guidelines, and playbooks to strengthen operational effectiveness.
- Enhance procurement team expertise through training sessions and sharing knowledge about commodity markets and associated risks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related disciplines.
- A minimum of 5 years’ procurement experience within manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing metal commodities such as copper, aluminum, tin, steel, or nickel.
- Prior experience in semiconductor, automotive, electronics, or similar sectors is highly advantageous.
- Strong grasp of commodity market behavior, index-based pricing mechanisms, and supply chain considerations.
- Knowledgeable in commodity risk management, including hedging strategies and market trend interpretation.
- Excellent analytical abilities coupled with adeptness in stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication.
