Role overview
Jetstar is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Commercial Analyst to join the Aircraft Maintenance Department. The role is centered on supporting the commercial and financial management of external aircraft maintenance activity, with a strong focus on cost control, reporting, contract oversight and process improvement.
Key responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager External Maintenance - Base, you will help manage invoice payments, contract administration, cost analysis, budget planning and vendor performance reporting across external maintenance work performed for Jetstar Airways. You will also contribute to project work involving data analysis, cost trend review and identifying savings opportunities to support a stable and efficient maintenance cost base.
- Create and maintain cost-tracking controls to monitor daily price movements and escalation activity from OEMs and suppliers.
- Review spending patterns, spot trends and recommend actions that can reduce maintenance costs.
- Build the external maintenance budget with accurate forecasts and limited variance from actual results.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting and support accrual creation for the finance team.
- Deliver quarterly expenditure analysis based on the cost information compiled.
- Produce a full-year financial update for external heavy maintenance performance.
- Oversee the commercial side of external base maintenance, including supplier and vendor escalation monitoring.
- Ensure all contracts and commitments are handled in Jetstar’s best interests.
- Work with Base Maintenance Managers and Technical Compliance Coordinators to maintain tight cost control.
- Assist in introducing automation into reporting and operational processes within the External Maintenance Base team.
- Help maintain Power BI dashboards, including BM Status and Financial Dashboards.
- Follow health and safety requirements and take reasonable care for your own safety and that of others.
- Operate in line with group policies, contract rules, legal obligations, conduct standards and ethics requirements.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of relevant experience and a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a similar field. You should bring strong communication skills, the ability to support multiple stakeholders, and confidence working in a fast-moving team. The role also calls for clear and independent thinking under pressure, while remaining a collaborative team player. Experience in accounting and cost analytics will be an advantage, along with proven project management ability, strong prioritisation and time management skills, good Microsoft Office proficiency and advanced Power BI knowledge.
