Claims Specialist

About the Role

A prominent organization in the Middle East is urgently seeking a mid-level Claims Specialist to join their team on a 6-month contract based in Doha, Qatar. The incumbent will manage a focused portfolio of construction claims, ensuring the protection of the project’s commercial interests.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage claims by identifying, analyzing, and evaluating potential and received contractual claims including extensions of time, disruptions, variations, and prolongations.
• Develop strong defense strategies and detailed narrative submissions to protect the project’s commercial position.
• Interpret and review complex contract documents and specifications to assess entitlements and liabilities.
• Work closely with project controls and quantity surveyors to validate the quantification and delay analysis components of claims.
• Assist senior management with commercial negotiations, settlement discussions, and dispute resolutions involving clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and deliver clear weekly and monthly claims tracking reports and presentations for executive leadership.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Law, or a closely related discipline.
• At least five years of experience in commercial management, quantity surveying, or claims management within the construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
• Proficient understanding of standard contract forms such as FIDIC.
• Strong ability to craft well-supported contractual narratives with clarity and precision.
• Possesses analytical skills to identify contractual risks and opportunities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Currently resides in Doha and is ready to start immediately for the six-month engagement beginning in August.
