Civil Engineer - MMUP/UPDA First Category

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure team adherence to all procedures, specifications, and project guidelines.
• Estimate quantities during proposal stages accurately.
• Evaluate geotechnical studies and their project implications critically.
• Design and calculate earthworks, land preparation, and infrastructural components such as urbanization and rainwater drainage systems.
• Perform calculations for roads, pavements, and various foundation types including shallow, piloted, and dynamic equipment foundations.
• Design metal and concrete structural elements for trays, pipe supports, industrial, and blast-proof buildings.
• Develop underground facility designs including rafts, ditches, manholes, and buried pipelines.
• Approve structural drawings from metal workshops and efficiently manage subcontractors for units, buildings, and platforms.
• Utilize software tools including STAADPRO, FOUNDATION 3D, MAT 3D, and STORMCAD to support engineering tasks.
• Handle architectural aspects such as building facades, roofs, final finishes, plumbing, and sanitation within the defined scope.
• Track and comply with project deadlines and engineering hour budgets, referencing initial proposal values.
• Engage in cost reduction initiatives and coordinate procurement and subcontracted activities.
• Ensure inter-departmental coordination to avoid clashes and verify discipline-specific work and vendor drawings.
• Report progress and changes to the Discipline Leader and maintain quality control throughout.
• Use project management and document control tools effectively for proper workflow integration.
• Contribute to project documentation such as lessons learned and maintain procedural compliance including self-certifications.
• Request necessary resources for designing calculations and related activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Must hold a valid MMUP/UPDA First Category Engineer license.
• Possess 12 to 15 years of genuine civil engineering experience, with significant exposure in Qatar and the GCC.
• Academic credentials include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related Engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated competence in major project execution within Qatar is highly advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and project requisites relevant to Qatar.
• Excellent communication, collaborative coordination, and technical aptitude.
