Role Overview
We are seeking a Cargo Operations Manager to be based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This role involves overseeing smooth cargo operations within the region through close collaboration, supervision, and negotiation with ground handling agents (GHAs), local service providers, and station staff. The objective is to ensure adherence to local authority regulations, regulatory bodies, and strict compliance with IATA regulations, facilitating efficient movement of inbound and outbound cargo while minimizing operational costs and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Propose service improvements to enhance offerings and reduce regional operational costs.
- Participate as a member of the airline operating committee to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
- Develop, implement, and oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs) with GHAs to guarantee smooth cargo operations with consistent quality, including policy streamlining for GHA staff to cover absences of cargo personnel.
- Manage KPIs and Service Level Agreements with service providers and GHAs to ensure performance meets airline standards.
- Collaborate with Station and Regional Heads to supervise ground handling activities ensuring cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
- Work to minimize discrepancies and non-conformances in order to reduce claims and penalties, enhancing customer satisfaction and lowering carrier liabilities.
- Ensure management of safety, security, and operational compliance at the local level.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with authorities and regulatory bodies, working with government and customs to obtain permissions and ensure regulatory compliance in cargo operations.
- Maintain aircraft on-time performance by preventing delays caused by ground operations.
- Continuously evaluate industry best practices to identify valuable process improvements.
- Provide support for Requests for Proposal (RFP) alongside headquarters, contracts, and procurement teams for current or new operations.
- Foster smooth teamwork between local cargo staff and airport services management through well-maintained station agreements and local operating procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma, vocational qualification, diploma, or higher.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in air cargo operations.
- Expertise in air cargo handling, including dangerous goods, AVI regulations, and perishable cargo.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
- Commercial insight with ability to analyze market and industry trends.
