Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time, permanent CAD Detailer to join our close-knit team. This role involves preparing precise manufacturing drawings to facilitate the fabrication and assembly of a diverse range of aluminum products. The CAD Detailer will finalize component designs essential for production.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and update detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings for engineered products, including parts, weldments, and sub-assemblies, utilizing Inventor and AutoCAD software.
• Organize and plan assemblies, subassemblies, weldments, and parts according to the bill of materials (BOM).
• Identify and fix discrepancies such as BOM errors, design conflicts, inaccurate descriptions, and outdated designs.
• Keep the design library current and accurate.
• Troubleshoot design-related problems.
• Assist with resolving production-related technical challenges, including machine and tool constraints, welding issues, excessive processes, drawing standardization, and accuracy.
• Develop assembly and installation instructions.
• Engage in continuous improvement activities and report suggestions for enhancing processes.
• Coordinate effectively with various internal departments such as Engineering, Design, Production Management, Sales, and Project Management, as well as factory personnel.
• Provide backup support to CAD technicians as needed.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 2 years of experience drafting engineered items, including products, weldments, and assemblies, preferably in roles such as CAD Detailer, Mechanical Drafter, or Structural Steel Detailer.
• Proficiency with Inventor or SolidWorks alongside AutoCAD.
• Experience managing and creating bills of materials (BOM).
• Background in working with metal parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Strong attention to precision and detail, quality-focused work ethic.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Competent in mathematical concepts, particularly geometry.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment.
• Strong organizational abilities with multitasking capacity and the capability to handle pressure.
• Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Residency required within 60 kilometers of Paris, Ontario.
