Overview
Herefordshire Council invites applications for the position of Building Safety Levy Officer based at Plough Lane, Hereford. This permanent role involves administering the Building Safety Levy, a government initiative aimed at funding the remediation of safety defects in buildings and enhancing safety standards nationwide. The position requires managing legislative and financial aspects and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete Building Safety Levy process, from assessing liability to payment collection.
- Evaluate developments to identify levy charges applicable.
- Issue official levy notices, invoices, and payment certificates timely and accurately.
- Track payments and assist in recovering outstanding fees.
- Maintain precise records and audit logs using council systems.
- Advise customers and stakeholders regarding levy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Support regulatory enforcement actions and investigations as necessary.
- Compile reports and statistics to aid service management and governance.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated experience in financial administration, regulatory services, development contributions, or similar areas.
- Proficient in processing financial transactions and maintaining detailed records.
- Well-organized with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Highly attentive to detail and methodical in approach to work tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Competent IT skills, including experience with databases and Microsoft Office suite.
- Skilled in handling complex customer queries with professionalism.
- Awareness of the significance of confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Desirable areas of experience include local government, construction, planning, building control, enforcement, or debt recovery, though these are not mandatory.
