Barista

About the Role

tashas places hospitality at the center of its guest experience. With a new café opening in Fourways, the team is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and welcoming Barista to help launch the site.

In this role, you will craft excellent coffee and beverage experiences while helping create a friendly and inviting atmosphere for guests. By combining strong technical ability, menu knowledge, and authentic hospitality, you will help deliver the standards associated with the tashas experience and contribute to a workplace built on excellence, collaboration, and care.

Beverage Preparation and Service

• Prepare coffee, teas, juices, and other drinks to a consistently high standard.
• Use recipes, preparation steps, and presentation guidelines accurately and carefully.
• Build strong knowledge of the drink and food menus, including ingredients, allergens, flavour profiles, and preparation methods.
• Respond confidently to guest questions and offer suitable suggestions.
• Manage orders efficiently during busy periods without compromising quality or detail.
• Check beverages for quality and consistency before serving.

Coffee Craft and Equipment

• Track coffee bean quality, grinder settings, and daily calibration to support proper extraction and flavour.
• Use and care for espresso machines, grinders, and brewing tools to a high standard.
• Keep all coffee equipment clean, maintained, and working correctly.
• Escalate maintenance needs or equipment issues without delay.
• Keep building coffee knowledge and technical skill to improve drink quality.

Operations and Organisation

• Set up and maintain mise en place for efficient service.
• Keep bar counters, stations, tools, and service areas stocked, tidy, and clean before, during, and after service.
• Assist with stock management and inventory control to reduce waste and support product availability.
• Complete prep schedules and daily operational duties in line with brand expectations.
• Use ingredients correctly, ensuring they remain fresh, stored properly, and within shelf life.

Teamwork and Culture

• Work in close coordination with front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure a smooth guest experience.
• Help onboard and develop new team members.
• Contribute to a respectful, positive, and cooperative workplace.
• Represent tashas values, culture, and spirit in every interaction.
• Take part in daily briefings and team communication.

Guest Experience and Quality

• Maintain exceptional standards in the preparation and presentation of beverages.
• Ensure every drink meets the quality, consistency, and detail guests expect.
• Support the brand’s three pillars: beautiful food, stunning environments, and engaging service.
• Build genuine guest connections through warmth, professionalism, and hospitality.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

• Follow all applicable local health, safety, and food-handling rules.
• Apply HACCP procedures and company standards at all times.
• Keep workstations, utensils, and equipment clean, sanitised, and well maintained.
• Handle beverages, food products, and cleaning materials safely and responsibly.
• Maintain a hygienic, clean, and organised work area throughout each shift.

• Previous barista experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
• Strong enthusiasm for coffee, hospitality, and guest service.
• Solid understanding of espresso preparation and milk texturing.
• High attention to detail and a strong focus on consistency.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Ability to stay calm and organised in a busy, fast-moving environment.
• A positive mindset, eagerness to learn, and genuine team spirit.

Additional Information

This opportunity is based in Sandton, Gauteng, South Africa, and is for the opening team of a new tashas café in Fourways. The role is full-time and onsite.
