Barcode Systems Manager

About the Role

Dancing Goat Coffee seeks a skilled Barcode Systems Manager to lead and innovate barcode technology strategies, identification systems, and labeling processes for enhanced operational visibility and supply chain efficiency, working fully remote from the UAE. This role involves spearheading barcode infrastructure, system integration, data accuracy, and automation projects across diverse business units.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute comprehensive barcode system strategies, including technology roadmaps, standards, and governance ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
• Design, deploy, and enhance barcode solutions throughout warehouses, manufacturing plants, retail outlets, logistics frameworks, healthcare settings, and enterprise systems.
• Partner with departments such as IT, Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Executives to deliver integrated identification solutions.
• Maintain and manage barcode hardware and software including scanners, printers, labels, RFID systems, mobile devices, middleware, and enterprise ID technologies.
• Oversee integration of barcode systems with ERP, WMS, MES, POS, and inventory platforms.
• Develop and enforce barcode standards, labeling guidelines, data schemas, master data needs, and operational protocols.
• Lead end-to-end barcode system implementation projects from requirements gathering to deployment, training, and post-launch support.
• Ensure data integrity with accurate barcode tracking, serialization, product identification, and adherence to industry regulations.
• Coordinate with external vendors and internal teams to sustain reliable barcode operations and troubleshoot issues.
• Implement routine system monitoring, maintenance plans, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
• Track performance metrics like scan accuracy, uptime, inventory precision, labeling compliance, processing efficiency, and error rates.
• Conduct audits, assessments, workflow optimizations, technology evaluations, and benchmarking exercises.
• Ensure compliance with GS1 standards, industry labeling mandates, data governance, and regulatory policies.
• Administer barcode system budgets, procure hardware, manage software licenses, vendor relations, support contracts, and automation efforts.
• Promote digital transformation through AI-based analytics, computer vision, automated data capture, RFID integrations, predictive maintenance, workflow automation, and business intelligence tools.
• Utilize technologies including Zebra, Honeywell, SATO, Datalogic, Cognex, GS1, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, ERP, WMS, and barcode management software to maximize system performance.
• Prepare executive dashboards and comprehensive reports on system performance, compliance, operations, and strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and develop barcode specialists, analysts, support staff, and cross-functional users fostering a culture of precision, innovation, collaboration, accountability, and ongoing improvement.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Advanced qualifications such as a Master’s in Information Systems, Supply Chain, Technology Management, MBA, or related field is highly valued.
• Certifications in GS1 standards, Enterprise Architecture, ITIL, PMP, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in barcode systems, warehouse automation, supply chain tech, enterprise systems, or related areas.
• At least 2 years managing barcode implementation, identification technology projects, automation initiatives, or technical teams.
• In-depth knowledge of barcode technologies, GS1 standards, RFID, data capture, labeling, ERP integration, warehouse operations, and automation workflows.
• Experience with Zebra, Honeywell, SATO, Datalogic, Cognex, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Manhattan Associates, Blue Yonder, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, ERP and WMS solutions, and barcode management systems.
• Familiarity with AI-powered computer vision, RFID technologies, smart warehouses, predictive analytics, digital supply chains, and advanced automation platforms is a strong plus.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, analytical, project management, budgeting, and organizational skills.
• Ability to successfully multitask barcode system projects balancing operational needs, investments, data quality, schedules, budgets, and business goals.
• Comfort working remotely with distributed global teams and stakeholders; willing to travel occasionally for implementations, audits, training, and deployments.
